Constructed out of walnut, I love the little details on this nightstand. The carved edges and corner details give character to this little night stand. There were a few imperfections- a slight wobble, some dings and dents, but all in all, she was in good condition.
I gave the basic tune up before moving on to the "fun stuff." Wood filler in the holes from the drawer's hardware, sanding, vacuuming, etc. I then primed the surface with KILZ primer. Already, so much brighter!
I applied another coat of primer, since the stain was quite dark and the paint was going to be light. When I finished painting though, it needed... something. I wanted to accentuate the details, not hide them with paint. I distressed the edges and voila!
I found a gorgeous flower knob and knew it would suit this nightstand perfectly. This gold edged flower became this piece's inspiration, so I chose Benjamin Moore's Beautiful in My Eyes for the paint to provide a touch of contrast to the knob. In certain lights, the color appears as a very soft beige, almost an antiqued white, with the slightest hint of blush tones. At Wayfair, I worked with a girl named Chrissy who was the most fabulously girly person I've ever known. Her apartment was outfitted exclusively in gorgeous shades of pinks, whites, and champagne, and she swooned over blush and rosy colored flowers.
The nightstand's name is Chrissy.
