This commissioned transformation is the first of two dresser makeovers. Thickly covered in red (and perhaps black?), it needed to be evened out by either stripping or sanding it. Because we wanted to expose some of the red color later via distressing, I sanded down the majority of it, leaving some red below to re-expose after painting. Once the piece was sanded down smooth, I applied a coat of shellac to ensure the red didn’t bleed through. I then painted on several coats of Annie Sloan’s Old White Chalk paint before distressing it. Here are some pictures of the process!
